Thank you for visiting Nursing Hands Registered Massage Therapy.
My background and passion have always been in healthcare and helping others.
In 2005, I graduated from Mohawk College’s Occupational Therapist Assistant / Physiotherapist Assistant program. I then worked at the Strathroy Middlesex Health Alliance (and its affiliated hospitals) in the physical rehabilitation unit until 2007.
In 2011, I graduated from the University of Western Ontario and received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree and registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario. I then worked at the Belleville General Hospital on the surgical unit for three and a half years. I loved to educate my patients and their families on how to manage their post surgical care such as wound care, catheter care, washing/bathing, dressing, etc. It was here that realized that I liked to make a positive difference in people's lives.
In 2013, I graduated with honours from Algonquin College in the Perioperative Nursing program. Afterwards, I worked in the operating room of the Oakville-Trafalgar General Hospital. In 2014, I moved to Burlington and transferred to the operating room at Joseph Brant Hospital, where I still work today.
Although I enjoy working in the Operating Room, I missed interacting with patients. Massage therapy was always an area that I wondered about, so in 2018 I completed Oxford College’s Massage Therapy program and became a Registered Massage Therapist with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).
I have always been drawn to helping people and nothing could be more rewarding than massage therapy. It is a great way for regular maintenance of healthy living and can be preventative to other conditions.
My advice to you is that registered massage therapy is like a glove. It is important to find a registered massage therapist that you are comfortable with and trust. It is common to try different ones until you find one that "fits".
My approach is that I look at the big picture of your symptoms and then tailor your massage to your needs. My nursing background allows me to have a different angle to my approach.
I am fully vaccinated for COVID with 4 doses, most recently being the Moderna Bivalent vaccine.
